Japanese Description
1 bar drawing die 棒引きダイス Dies for drawing bar material.
2 die ダイ Collective term for molds and tools which surround materials, defining their outer shape / dimensions. "Dies" is the plural form of "die".
3 drawing die 引き抜きダイス Collective term for cylindrical tools used for drawing. Drawing dies form the external dimensions of wire, tube, and bar materials.
4 floating plug,
floating mandrel
フローティングプラグ Plugs used for floating drawing.
5 peeling die,
shaving die
皮むきダイス Dies used for cutting the exteriors of wires or bars.
6 plastic deformation,
plastic strain  
塑性変形 Condition of permanent size or shape deformation due to stress exceeding the elastic limit.
7 plastic working 塑性加工 Collective term for methods of processing materials to specified shapes / dimensions using material plastic deformation (without producing chips).
8 plug / mandrel プラグ Collective term for tools placed inside tube and used with dies when ball drawing or float drawing. They form the interior diameter of the tube.
roller die   ローラーダイス Dies which combine multiple rollers in plastic working. These are also called cassette roller dies.
10 special-shape drawing die 異型ダイス  Dies for drawing wires, bars, or tubes with complex cross-sections.
11  straight plug 長芯プラグ Plugs with no approaches and long bearings. These are also called straight plugs.
12 swaging die スウェージングダイス Dies used in forging machines which rotate bar or tube-shaped materials around an axis, striking them rapidly in the direction of their radius in order to reduce their cross-section size. 
13  tube drawing die 管引きダイス Dies for drawing tube material.
14  tube plug 玉芯プラグ Plugs with approaches and short bearings.
15 wear-resistant tool 耐摩耗工具 Collective term primarily for tools used in plastic working. These are also called wear- and impact-resistant tools or wear- and corrosion-resistant tools.
16 wire drawing die 線引きダイス Dies for drawing wire material.

 1 backward extrusion punch 後方押出し用パンチ Punches used for backward extrusion of cylinders with bottoms.
 2 blanking die 抜き型 Collective term for dies used in blanking.
 3 coining die コイニングダイ Female dies used in coining.
 4 countersunk die 皿付きダイス Heading dies with 45 degree, etc. angles on their upper hole opening. These are used in countersunk screw heading.
 5 cutting die 切断ダイ Fixed blades attached to heading machines and used to cut wire materials to specified dimensions or surface areas.
 6 cutting knife 切断カッター
(移動カッター)
In contrast to cutting dies, cutting knifes are moving blades which cut wire materials as they move.
 7 extruding die 絞りダイス Dies with flat cylindrical molding tops and extruding parts.
 8 flat die   フラットダイス Collective term for straight dies, straight dies with washer faces, straight dies with double washer faces, etc. 
 9 forging tool    鍛造工具  Collective term for tools used to make products using forging (applying external pressure to cause plastic deformation, processing the materials into the desired shape).
10 forward extrusion punch 前方押出し用パンチ Punches used for forward extrusion of cylinders with bottoms.
11  heading die ヘッダダイ Collective term for tools attached to heading machines and used to swage bolt or rivet heads from wire or bar materials (see Fig. 3-4-1). These are broadly divided into straight dies and extruding dies.
12 nut forming die ナットホーマダイス Dies attached to nut formers to form nut hexagonal heads and other objects through precision swaging. Multi-stage striking is often used to form the exterior while at the same time blanking the pilot hole.
13 parts forming die パーツホーマダイス Dies attached to multistage heading machines and used to perform heading of complex shapes other than bolts, nuts, etc., or of large objects.
14 piercing punch  ピアシングパンチ Punches used during drilling processing to make small holes.
15  punch パンチ Collective term for die components used in forging and pressing to apply loads. Generally called "male dies", as opposed to "female dies".
16 segment セグメント Name of each part of a split die. They are attached to a forging roll, etc., and used to roll out material, so this term is sometimes only used to refer to crescent-shaped split dies with concavities.
17  shearing シャーリング Cutting products (plate materials, etc.) to specified dimensions. Also known as shear processing.
18 straight die,heading die without washer face ストレートダイス Heading dies with flat nib top surfaces.
19 swaging die   スウェージングダイ Tools used in forging machines which rotate bar or tube-shaped materials around an axis, striking them rapidly in the direction of their radius in order to reduce their cross-section size.
20  trimming die トリミングダイス Tools used to trim bolt heads, which have been upset forged into circular shapes, into hexagonal shapes. These are also called trimmer dies.
21 washerface die 座付ダイス Heading dies with washer faces on the upper side of their nib. There are washer face dies with straight nibs and sunk nibs. Nibs can be single or double nibs.

 1 bending die 曲げ金型 Dies used to bend bar or tube materials. 
 2 blanking die,
piercing die 
打抜き金型 Dies used to cut components with specific required shapes out of plate material
 3 die  金型 Metal dies which are used to shape materials to specific shapes.
 4 drawing die 絞り金型 Dies which draw the periphery of plate materials towards to center, forming container shapes.
 5 powder compacting molddrawing die 粉末成形金型 Dies which compress powder to form compacts.
 6 progressive die 順送型 Dies which are used in progressively processing material while it is conveyed at an even pitch.

Japanese Description
 1 anvil  アンビル Punches used together with ultrahigh pressure vessel cylinders. These are also known as anvil tops.
 2 barrel バレル Cylinders used together with screws and disks in molding machines. These are also known as barrel cylinders.
 3 cam カム A rotating component consisting of a plate or cylinder with a curving edge or groove. Many rotate together with driving pulleys causing followers to move in complex cyclic movements. 
 4 cylinder シリンダ (1)Fluid-tight cylindrical containers.
(2)Ultrahigh pressure vessel dies. These are also called dies or chambers
 5 cylinder liner,

シリンダライナ Cylindrical parts inserted into cylinders to make replacement easy when the interior wall of the cylinder undergoes abrasion.
 6 plunger  プランジャ Return sections of bar-shaped pistons or plunger pumps. These are used in pumps where high pressure is only applied to one side, and to the hydraulic presses of compressors.
 7 screw  スクリュー Tools for extruding (mixing) thermoplastic plastics, etc.
 8 seal ring シールリング Rings used in mechanical seals.
 9 valve バルブ Instruments which can be used to open or close pipes carrying gasses or fluids, and to control flow through the pipes.
10 valve seat  バルブシート   Ring-shaped components used together with valves, which come in contact with the valves.

 1 back up roll バックアップロール Rolls which support work rolls in multistage rolling machines.
 2 emboss roll エンボスロール Paired convex and concave rolls used in continuous embossing of material.
 3 flattening roll, straightening roll 矯正ロール Rolls for flattening and straightening.
 4 forming roll フォーミングロール Rolls for forming plates into electric resistance welded steel pipe, etc.
 5 guide roll ガイドロール Rolls for guiding wire material, etc. into the correct position. These are also called guide rollers.
 6 pinch roll ピンチロール Rolls for pinching plates, bars, etc. between rolls, and rotating the rolls to control the feed of said plates, bars, etc.
 7 rebar roll 節付きロール Rolls for forming special bar or steel knobs or ribs.
 8 roll ロール Collective term for cylindrical mechanical components used in rolling, forming, polishing, etc.
 9 roll for 3-roll mill 3方ロール Rolls used in 3-roll finishing block mills. Also known as Cox rolls or 3 rolls.
10 roll for cold rolling mill  冷間ロール Collective term for rolls used in cold rolling.
11  roll for hot rolling mill 熱間ロール Collective term for rolls used in hot rolling. 
12  roll for morgan block mill モルガンロール Collective term for rolls used in hot rolling.
13 roll for no twist mill NTロール Collective term for rolls used in no-twist mills.
14 roll for sendzimir mill センジミアロール Rolls used in Sendzimir multistage cold rolling machines
15 roll for strech reducing mill ストレッチレジューサー

Rolls used when rolling by applying tension in the direction of the tube axis. These are often used in 3-roll mill roll continuous stands.
16 seam guide roll フィンロール Rolls for adjusting electric resistance welded tube shim tilting, twisting, and aperture angle immediately before welding.
17  side roll   サイドロール Vertical axis, non-driven rolls for forming material edges into uprights by pushing on the material from the sides.
18 spinning roll   スピニングロール Rolls for forming by attaching the material to be processed to a mandrel and rotating it.
19  squeeze roll スクイーズロール Electric resistance welded tube welding rolls which apply necessary pressure and heat to seam areas, completing adhesion.
20 work roll   ワークロール Rolls which support work pieces in multistage rolling machines, used in direct molding.

 1 die and punch for electronic part  コンピュータ部品関連工具 Collective term for punches and dies used to form ICs, semiconductor connectors, condensers, and other parts (electronic parts).Also used to refer to dies and punches for integrated circuits.
 2 die and punch for electronic part    電子関連部品  Collective term for punches and dies used to form electronic parts.
 3 die and punch for integrated circuit  IC用抜き型 Dies used to punch semiconductor integrated circuit-related electronic parts. These are also called dies and punches for electronic parts.
 4 extruding mold for magnetic head 磁気ヘッド絞り型 Extruding molds for magnetic heads (components used to write information to and delete information from the magnetic surfaces of magnetic tape and magnetic disks).
 5 lead wire cutter リード線カッター  Blade and device for cutting lead wires of electronic parts. "Lead wire cutter blade" is used when referring to the blade only.
 6 mold for ferrite フェライトモールド Collective term for dies used when forming magnetic material α-Fe.
 7 optical fiber cutter 光ファイバーカッター  Blade and device for cutting optical glass fibers. "Optical fiber cutter blade" is used when referring to the blade only.
 8 slot die  スロットダイ Dies with narrow slots, used in film application for liquid crystals, fuel cells, etc. Also used to refer to single punch dies.

 2  rotary die cutter ダイカットロール Rotary die cutters.
 3 rotary die cutter for sanitary goods サニタリーダイ Rotary die cutters used for sanitary goods.
 4 rotary knife ロータリーナイフ Collective term for round blades used for sheet shearing.
 5 scalping cutter スカルピングカッター  Brazed surface cutters which perform continuous rough processing of the top and bottom surfaces of thin plates such as copper plates or copper alloy plates.
 6 shear blade せん断刃 Blades used for shearing of wire materials, etc.
 7 shear tool, shearing tool せん断工具   Collective term for tools used to apply shear stress to materials, cutting specified areas to the desired dimensions and shapes.
 8 side rimmer knife サイドトリマーナイフ Mechanical blade which performs slitting on a slitter line while at the same time continuously cutting off both edges of coil material.
 9 slitter knife スリッターナイフ Round blades used for multi-slit plate cutting.
