(Alphabetical order)
Japanese Description
Tools whose blades are made of alloy tool steel.
Tools whose blades are made of sintered boron nitride. Also known as BN tools. Note: Varieties of boron nitride include polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) and wurtzite boron nitride (wBN).
Tools whose blades are made of carbon tool steel.
Collective term for cutting tools, wear-resistant tools (plastic working tools), mining and engineering tools, etc. whose blades are made of cemented carbide. Depending on the structure of the cemented carbide tool, these may be brazed tools, solid tools, indexable tools, shrink fit tools, etc.
Tools whose blades are made of ceramic (oxidized aluminum, silicone nitride, etc.).
Tools whose blades are made of cermet (titanium compounds such as titanium carbide or titanium nitride).
Tools whose blade surfaces are composed of one layer of carbide, nitride, oxide, diamond, or other material, to which a coating material has been chemically or physically bonded.

Note: Coating materials include titanium carbide, titanium nitride, titanium carbonitride, oxidized aluminum, diamond, etc.
Tools whose blades are made of diamond. Note: Diamond types include natural diamonds, synthetic diamonds, poly-crystalline diamond (PCD), CVD diamond, etc.
Tools whose blades are made of high-speed tool steel.
Tools whose blades have undergone surface treatment such as nitrification, oxidation, nitrided oxidation processing, etc.

Japanese Description
Tools whose outside diameters, diameters, heights, widths, etc. can be mechanically adjusted.
Tools whose blade materials are brazed to the body or shank.
Tools whose tips are mechanically clamped to the body or shank.
Clamped tools whose blade replacement rips are mechanically attached to the body or shank.
(1) Small tools which are mechanically attached to the holder or shank.
(2) Tools whose bodies are inserted into the shank and are joined by brazing or pressing. These are often shank type tools.
Tools whose blades have been mechanically attached to the body.
Tools combining two or more tools.
Tools which cut using multiple cutting edges.
Tools which cut using a single cutting edge. Ex.) Turning tool
Tools whose blades and bodies or shanks are made of a single unit.
Tools whose tips have been welded or brazed to the body.
Tools for which only a section from the blade tip is made of solid tool material. Tipped tool. These are often shank type tools.
(1) Tools whose blade materials are welded to the body or shank.(2)Tools whose bodies and shanks are welded. These are often shank type tools.
